Also known as film pass boxes, cassette transfer cabinets have a double-wall construction of heavy steel and are divided into either one or two compartments, depending on preference. Lead-lined and unlined versions are available.

In two-compartment designs, doors for each compartment are clearly marked for exposed and unexposed cassettes. Cabinets are lined with lead equal to the lead thickness in the partition in which they will be installed.

A mechanical interlock is standard to prevent the simultaneous opening of doors on both sides of the cabinet. An automatic interlock is optional. A rough-in frame and opposing wall trim ring are provided to aid in installation and improve appearance after installation.
